Creating Opportunities for Young Vietnamese Designers to Thrive in Japan: Union Tec Vietnam Signs Partnership with Duy Tan University and VJIET

Developing Vietnamese spatial designers who can build careers in Japan, while creating new opportunities that connect Vietnam and Japan.

UNION TEC Vietnam Co., Ltd., the Vietnamese subsidiary of UNION TEC Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Yusuke Okawa), with offices in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City and led by Representative Director Tetsuya Kimura, held a partnership signing ceremony with Duy Tan University and VJIET (the Vietnam–Japan Institute of Engineering and Technology) on June 5, 2026.

Through this partnership, the parties aim to provide students of Duy Tan University and VJIET with practical work opportunities in Japan’s interior and spatial design industry, while developing the next generation of spatial designers who can build careers in either Vietnam or Japan.

Union Tec Vietnam has provided CG visualization and spatial design support for Japanese clients. Through its collaboration with Duy Tan University and VJIET, the company will now focus on developing young professionals with both Japanese-language proficiency and design skills, while creating new career opportunities that connect Vietnam and Japan.

Background of the Initiative

The UNION TEC Group operates planning, design, and construction businesses focused primarily on offices and commercial spaces under its mission, “Build a new standard.” Its local subsidiary, Union Tec Vietnam, has supported spatial design projects for Japanese clients, primarily through CG visualization services.

In Vietnam, many young people study Japanese and are interested in working for Japanese companies or building careers in Japan. At the same time, Japan’s interior and spatial design industry faces a growing need to develop global talent and establish new production systems in collaboration with overseas offices.

Against this backdrop, Union Tec Vietnam will partner with Duy Tan University and VJIET to promote internship and professional development programs that allow students to gain hands-on experience with work closely modeled on real Japanese projects while still at university. By combining Japanese-language education, design training, and on-the-job experience through real-world projects, the initiative aims to develop spatial designers capable of building successful careers in both Vietnam and Japan.

Partnership Overview

Under this partnership, Union Tec Vietnam will offer internships and practical learning opportunities to students from Duy Tan University and VJIET.
The main initiatives are as follows:

Providing Practical Experience in Japan’s Interior and Spatial Design Industry

Through projects undertaken by Union Tec Vietnam for Japanese clients, students will have opportunities to gain hands-on experience in professional workflows, including spatial design, CG visualization production, and presentation material development.

Developing Talent with Japanese-Language and Design Skills

By combining VJIET’s Japanese-language education, Duy Tan University’s design curriculum, and on-the-job training through real projects undertaken by Union Tec Vietnam, the program will help students develop the communication abilities and professional skills required to work with Japanese companies.

Creating Internship and Future Employment Opportunities

Based on each student’s skills, career aspirations, and performance during the internship, the program aims to create future employment opportunities at Union Tec Vietnam or UNION TEC Co., Ltd.
The initiative will begin with a small number of participants in its first year, while continuously refining the program and developing a sustainable talent development model.

Supporting Career Development Between Vietnam and Japan

The program will support young Vietnamese professionals in gaining exposure to Japan’s spatial design industry and building careers that enable them to contribute in both Vietnam and Japan.

About the Signing Ceremony

Dr. Nguyễn Hữu Phú, Vice Provost of Duy Tan University

Representatives from Duy Tan University, VJIET, and Union Tec Vietnam attended the signing ceremony and confirmed the direction of the talent development program moving forward.

Union Tec Vietnam presented an overview of its CG visualization and spatial design services for Japanese clients, the practical experience it can offer students, and its approach to hosting interns. Duy Tan University and VJIET also shared their educational vision for developing talent capable of bridging Vietnam and Japan, as well as their expectations for collaboration with Japanese companies.

Going forward, the partners will proceed in stages with recruiting and selecting participating students, designing the internship program, and providing on-the-job training through real-world projects.

Message from the Representative of UNION TEC Vietnam

UNION TEC Vietnam has expanded its business primarily by providing CG visualization services for Japanese clients. Going forward, we aim to move beyond CG production and take on more upstream aspects of the design process, including spatial design and presentation support.

Our partnership with Duy Tan University and VJIET will offer young people in Vietnam valuable opportunities to gain exposure to professional practices in Japan. At the same time, it represents a new challenge for us as we develop a new model for talent development and recruitment.

We hope to work together with the universities to create new career pathways through which Vietnamese designers equipped with Japanese-language proficiency and design skills can build successful careers in both Vietnam and Japan.
